About Us

South32 is a global mining and metals company, and its Hermosa Project in southern Arizona is the only advanced mining project in the United States that could produce two federally designated critical minerals—zinc and battery-grade manganese—as well as silver and lead, which are all minerals that are needed for the clean energy transition. South32 is applying low-carbon design principles in its design and engineering plans for an underground operation at Hermosa and foresees using renewable energy, all-electric fleets, automation, and technology to minimize environmental impacts and help achieve the company’s goal of achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
